A virtual and in-person Arts & Sciences display
Fighting was undeniably part of Scandinavian culture during the Viking Age. Raiding and war were an element of life, reflected in the surviving art and stories, supported by religious beliefs, political systems and social hierarchies. There is a terrible brutality to the realities of these aspects of culture, one which is sometimes lost in the recounting of battles and raids so far removed from our own time.
But to dismiss the Scandinavians as simply brutish Vikings is to dismiss the artistry and sophistication of those societies. One of the places we see their influence is in the aesthetic and functional choices of many SCA fighting kits, both hard and soft across all of the martial practices.
We invite anyone who uses Viking Age influenced or replica elements in their kit to display at Hearthglow. There are two ways to participate:

- In person at Highland Hearthglow: Sign up using the form below where you will be asked to sign photography waivers and indicate in-person participation. The fashion show will be live streamed during the event.
- Virtually before Highland Hearthglow: Sign up using the form below where you will be asked to sign photography waivers and indicate virtual participation. Submitted pictures and descriptions will be shared via social media, featured on our website and possibly used during our live stream.
